Shannon is the Co-founder of The Finance Cafe and CEO of Pestun Consulting supporting the development of research and strategies that advance equity and diversity in leadership and helps organizations accelerate diversity strategies already underway.
Shannon previously worked in the financial services sector where she became known for her advocacy around financial inclusion and empowerment and her role in setting the stage for gender equality in Canada's banking and financial services. She was later appointed to serve on Canada’s Women Entrepreneurship Strategy expert panel.
Shannon is passionate about reconciliation and the economic empowerment of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples in Canada and is committed to bolstering Indigenous economic prosperity, driving economic growth and bringing an Indigenous-centered approach to her work.
In 2020, she created the Gifting Circle Bursary for Indigenous women entrepreneurs raising over $150,000 in support of advancing Indigenous women’s entrepreneurship in Canada.
Her commitment and leadership has made her one of the country’s most sought-after advisors and trusted voices on women’s entrepreneurship and on the importance of building an inclusive entrepreneurial innovation ecosystem among educators, government, industry and media.
Today, she continues to focus on building an inclusive economy through Pestun Consulting, a company that works in collaboration with all levels of government, civil society, the financial industry and advanced education to identify gaps and create opportunities that promote inclusive workplaces and entrepreneurship.
